De Drentsche Patrijshond is een staande jachthond, die ontstond vanaf de 16e eeuw uit de Spioenen (ook wel Spanjoelen genoemd). Het zijn 'staande' honden die via Frankrijk uit Spanje afkomstig zijn. In Nederland werden ze Patrijshonden genoemd.
